Summer hillwalking is the starting point for many embarking on their mountain walking and mountaineering journey. The freedom of the hills can give people a lifetime of enjoyment at whatever level people choose. Wild Path offer courses which cater for entry level clients, who are keen to explore the summer mountains and need the skills to stay safe. We also take clients on courses, where perhaps some scrambling, combined with more advanced decision making, is required. All courses have a focus on navigation, map reading and compass work, the most essential skills to keep safe in the mountains, in the often fickle mountain weather. We also offer a range of private guided days, which are all tailor-made to your needs and skill level.

Intro to the hills

This is for many the first step in getting out into the mountains. This entry level course covers the basic skills and knowledge to get you started. We cover the following:

- Equipment

- Mountain day planning

- Navigation

- Emergency Procedures

Adv Hill walking

This course takes us onto the more technical tops in the UK where some scrambling and more technical route finding begins. We also look at some more advanced navigation for poor weather. We cover the following:

- Scrambling and simple rope skills

- Adv Navigation

Guided hill days

The UK has numerous mountain days to choose from and Wild Path offer you a safe and enjoyable, professionally guided experience. Whether you are looking to get a first taste for the mountains or you have some summer mountains that involve climbing or scrambling to reach the top, we will tailor-make your day.

Course Details

All of our hillwalking courses are tailor-made and run from 1 day to 5 days.  Let us know what dates suits you best.

All mountain courses require a good level

of fitness for big days in the mountains.

We email out a specific kit list for the course upon receipt of a booking form. We can provide any ropes or technical equipment, such as compasses and GPS devices. We find this helps clients get a good idea of what to purchase after the course. Clothing is the clients' responsibility but we are only a call or email away to offer help and advice.

Pricing: As courses are tailor-made just hit "join us" under the course that interests you and make an enquiry to find out more. Our day rate for summer walking is £190 per day for the first person and £20 per head thereafter, to a maximum of 12 clients to one instructor. We offer a reduced rate for NHS workers, Armed Forces personnel and students.
