Scrambling opens a vast array of possibilities in the UK from the lakeland scrambles to the famous Cuillin Ridge on the Isle of Skye. We offer a range of courses enabling you to make the move from walking to scrambling.
Walk to Scramble
The transition from walking to scrambling involves expanding your skill set to include some simple mountaineering skills. We cover the following:
- Route choice
- Simple climbing techniques
- Introduction to rope work
- Emergency procedures
This course looks into graded scrambling where the use of pitched climbing is required.
We cover the following:
- Route choice with the use of a guidebook
- Building anchors and belaying
- Placing rock protection
- Climbing techniques
We are available for fully guided days tailored to your abilities and desires. Suggested scrambles:

Jake's Rake, Broad Stand in the Lakes.
Aonach Eagach, Skye Ridge in Scotland.
All of our scrambling courses are tailor-made and run from 1 day to 5 days. Let us know what dates suit you best.
All mountain courses require a good level of fitness for big days in the mountains.
We email out a specific kit list for the course upon receipt of a booking form. Any climbing hardware and ropes are provided within the cost. Helmets and harnesses can be hired at £5 per item per day. All clothing and footwear are the clients responsibility to have; advice and suggestions are welcome with just a call or email.
Pricing: As courses are tailor-made just hit "join us" under the course that interests you and make an enquiry to find out more. Our scrambling day rate is £210 per day for the first person and £20 per head thereafter, to a maximum of 3 clients per instructor. We offer a reduced rate for NHS workers, Armed Forces personnel and students.
