Mountain Skills 

Hillwalking is the starting point for many embarking on their mountain walking and mountaineering journey. The freedom of the hills can give people a lifetime of enjoyment at whatever level people choose to take it to. Wild Path offer courses which cater for entry those just starting out and who are keen to explore the summer mountains and need the skills to stay safe. All courses have a focus on navigation, map reading and compass work, the most essential skills to keep safe in the mountains, in the often fickle mountain weather.


Course Outlines

This is for many the first step in getting out into the mountains. This entry level course covers the basic skills and knowledge to get you started. We cover the following: 

- Equipment 

- Mountain route planning 

- Navigation 

- Emergency Procedures 

- Mountain Weather 

We also offer an advanced course which looks into greater detail navigation and also start to head towards more technical and steeper ground. Guided days are also available on your chosen munro,

All of our Walking courses are tailor-made and run from 1 day to 5 days.  Let us know what dates suit you best.


All mountain courses require a good level of fitness for big days in the mountains. 


We email out a specific kit list for the course upon receipt of a booking form.

Pricing: As courses are tailor-made just hit "join us" under the course that interests you and make an enquiry to find out more.  Our day rate for Walking is £200 per day for the first person and £20 per head thereafter, to a maximum group size of 8 clients to 1 instructor. We offer a reduced rate for NHS workers, Armed Forces personnel and students.
